Hello Everyone,
My name is Cindy Villegas, and I am reaching out to you today with a vulnerable heart and a deep sense of hope. At 28 years old, I am a proud Class of '22 - UHD graduate, the head of my household, and a loving daughter, sister and friend. Recently, I received the life-altering diagnosis of Chiari Type 1, a condition where a part of my brain extends into my spinal canal. Additionally, there is a cyst in my brain that necessitates urgent surgical intervention to releive the pain and paralysis on my right side.
Throughout my life, I have always been determined to overcome obstacles and pursue my dreams. I worked tirelessly to earn my college degree while juggling work. But now, faced with this unexpected health crisis, I find myself at a crossroads. The brain surgery is essential for my well-being, but it will also require recovery for at least three months and I will be unable to work. My mom and primary care taker will also not be able to work in order to care for me.
As the main provider for my household, the financial burden of medical bills, post-operative care, and everyday expenses without my income is overwhelming. My mother, who lives with me and provides some financial help, is also not working to care for me during and after surgery. I find myself caught between my own well-being and the pressing needs of maintaining my household. It's a weight I never imagined carrying alone.
With a humble heart, I have launched this GoFundMe campaign with the goal of raising $30,000. The funds raised will alleviate the burden of medical expenses, including the surgery itself, hospital stays, follow-up consultations, and essential medications. Moreover, these funds will provide a safety net to support me during my recovery period.
I have always been a believer in the power of community and the strength that lies in coming together during times of adversity. It is with vulnerability that I ask for your support. Your donations, no matter how small, will make an immense difference in my life. Together, we can ensure that I have the opportunity to undergo this vital brain surgery without the added worry of financial stress. Your contribution will provide me with the peace of mind I need to focus on healing and rebuilding my life.
I am deeply grateful for your time, generosity, and unwavering support, especially everyone who has come to visit, sent flowers or food. My heart is full. Please consider donating to my campaign and sharing it with your network. Your act of kindness will bring us one step closer to achieving our goal and allowing me to navigate this challenging journey with renewed hope.
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for standing by my side during this difficult time. With your support, I believe that together, we can conquer brain surgery and rebuild a brighter future.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Cindy Villegas
