AIDS LifeCycle 2020

Tax deductible
The COVID crisis is especially frightening for immunocompromised people, such as many people living with HIV. The great news is that the SF AIDS Foundation and the LA LGBT Center (the cosponsors of AIDS/LifeCycle) have years of experience combatting viral pandemics and have been able to swiftly and effectively respond to the current crisis. For obvious reasons, this year’s ride was cancelled – but the fight must go on. These organizations’ services are needed now more than ever, and without the money raised from AIDS/LifeCycle, they are in danger of losing over $16 million in funds for next year.

In lieu of riding the 545 miles between SF and LA this year, I have committed to ALC’s new MY 545 challenge to complete 545 of something positive before May 30. Many of my former coworkers at Oasis Legal Services have committed, as well, as they race to raise emergency funds for LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers who have lost their jobs to the COVID crisis.

These are our 545 commitments:

Connor (me!) – 545 pushups, 545 minutes of meditation
Julia – 545 minutes of yoga
Rachel – answering 545 of her toddler’s "why" questions
Kusia & Dom – 545 burpees
Caroline – 545 pieces of laundry folded
Anna – 545 flowers left on her 84-year-old mother's doorstep
Melissa – 545 minutes of running
Nicholas – make and donate 545 face masks

Half of the funds raised will go to AIDS/LifeCycle and half will go to Oasis.
