Connor's Medical Fund

Hello Everyone.  As some of you may or may not know my good friends Sean and Amanda FitzSimons are going through a bit of a rough time with their son Connor because of his allergies.  The FitzSimons are great people and although they would never ask for money from anyone themselves, they could really use the help.  Below is a description of the problem.

Anything large or small will help.  I thank you, and I know the FitzSimons' thank you.  God Bless All.

Sean and Amanda FitzSimons of Mesquite, NV have an 8 year old son named Connor FitzSimons. Connor was diagnoised at 1 years old with severe food and environmental allergies. His whole life up to this point has been a challenge in regualting his diet, preventing irritants from getting on his skin, and having protective clothing for his over sensitive skin.

Until recently, these routines worked and Connor had never let anything hold him back from being a normal active 8-year old boy that loves football and basketball.

In early June of 2016, Connor's skin took a turn for the worse and it started to affect his way of life in ways never seen before. Patches of red burning excema, hives, and sores appeared all over his body, but mainly on his arms and legs. The FitzSimons family went to allergists and dermotologists in Las Vegas, Mesquite, and St George, UT. All specialists did pretty much, the same thing, they prescribed ointments, creams, and meds to treat the symptoms, but none of these took away the burning, swelling, and gaping open wounds that soon developed into Staff infection. (MRSA)

All of the specialists agreed that Connor needed to go to the Univeristy of Utah Primary Children's hospital in Salt Lake City. The only problem, was that would be considered Out-of-network for Sean's teachers health trust insurance. So, other options had to happen. The insurance did have a deal with UCLA Children's Hospital in downtown Los Angeles.

So, finally after all paperwork and letters from Doctors were sent, Sean and Amanda got to take Connor to UCLA on Sept 30th, 2016. Countless tests were run that day. The Doctors diagnosed it as Severe A-topic Dermatitis, as well as Connor having Auto-immune deficiency disease that makes his skin not be able to fight off anything. He was prescribed a lot more allergy medications, including heavy dosages of a steriod called predinisone that would hopefully help. The FitzSimons family was told to return on Oct 14th and right before this trip, Connor's symptoms got steadily worse.

Lucky to make it UCLA on Oct 14th, things went well, but still no answers other than to keep up his routines and with the medications. UCLA wants the FitzSimons family to head back to Los Angeles on October 28th.

As you can imagine, the costs are starting to add up. Here are the out of pocket costs that the FitzSimons family is currently enduring: Medications, (One in which their insurance had never even heard of, let alone cover it), special breathing equipment like a specializied inhaler and an expensive air purifier for his room.

Numerous bandages and tapes that Connor has to be wrapped in daily at night and in the mornings. The cost of hotels for 2 nights at a time, food money, gas money, along with paying for parking at the UCLA center.

There are other things that are taking it's toll on the FitzSimons family as well such as Sean and Amanda missing days of work and Connor missing school. Connor has missed more days of school in the last 2 months than he had in the last 3 years combined.

Again, thank you all for whatever you can give!
