Contributions will go towards the Connor Lopez Music Scholarship to give the gift of music to as many children as possible in Connor's name and memory.
Connor Elliott Lopez was a gifted pianist whose love for music touched everyone around him. From the time he was a baby, Connor had a special connection to music—humming along to songs before he could even speak. When he discovered the piano, it became his greatest passion. Connor had perfect pitch, and not a day went by that he didn’t play. At seven, he began lessons with an inspiring instructor, and his talent flourished. As a young mom, I struggled to afford lessons, but Connor’s grandma stepped in, believing in his gift and supporting his dreams. We know not every family has that option, and that’s why we want to help others.
Connor’s piano music was the heart of every family gathering. The last time we saw him, on Easter 2025, he played for us—it was magical. Just three days later, Connor was killed by a reckless driver. Piano was Connor’s comfort, joy, and peace. On good days and hard days, music was always there for him. In today’s world, children face so many challenges, and music can be a transformative, positive outlet. Through the Connor Lopez Music Scholarship, our family hopes to give the gift of piano to a child who might not otherwise have that chance. Connor would be so proud.
At the time of his death, Connor was teaching piano at NewSongs School of Music in Elk Grove, CA. We have partnered with NewSongs to bring Connor’s scholarship to as many children as possible. Connor was born on 9/11/2001, a day marked by tragedy, but he brought so much light to our lives. Our goal is to award five scholarships on what would have been Connor’s 25th birthday. While we can no longer celebrate birthdays with Connor, we will honor him for decades to come through this scholarship. Please help us keep Connor’s spirit alive and share the gift of music to children.
