CONNIE'S ETHICAL JOURNEY WITH IMPACT
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Connie and I am fundraising to go to Kenya with Camps International in the summer of 2023 to undertake a community enrichment programme of work.
Communities I will be working with have little income; they suffer drought, infertile soils and crop sabotage from wildlife and, as such, there often isn't enough food to go around.
Camps International have helped protect 100,000 hectares of wilderness in 7 of the world's biodiversity hotspots and have positively impacted the lives of over 120,000 people. Now I hope to join them.
Some of the projects I will work on to help improve the quality of life for people in Kenya include:
~building classrooms to provide children with a safe space to learn and also desks for children who would otherwise be sat on the floor to learn;
~making ethical elephant deterrents to protect local crops. This reduces elephant poaching and increases crop production for the villagers to eat;
~installing fresh water tanks in schools and in villages;
~ digging elephant watering holes helping the elephants to survive the dry season; and
~deworming goats to enable safe milk and food supply.
I feel very passionately about helping these very special yet vulnerable environments and communities but need to raise funds to get there. I will be undertaking various tasks, making things to sell, and doing whatever I can to make this happen. Thank you for your support and for donating. Every penny I raise will be going to a good cause :)
