Hi everyone, my name is Camilla and Auntie Connie was my stepmom since I was in middle school. She'd been part of my life growing up and has made my Dad happy throughout! She loved travelling, trying foods and she adored her cats (which made me want my own :)).
From what I know, Auntie Connie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and overcame it before entering my life. It was about 3-4 years ago that she relapsed. I believe it was terminal. She was getting treated regularly at SunnyBrook Hospital. This was also when I started working at the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. It made me believe that I was brought into this position to help those who are affected by cancer.
Early November this year, our family's world was turned. Auntie Connie had a stroke and we called the ambulance to help take her to the hospital. We found out that she had to get an emergency brain surgery as they found a bloodclot in her brain. We also found that the stroke had caused her cancer to metastasize and she had to be put into palliative care. She had limited time left and this was very emotional for our family, especially for my Dad. She passed December 30th, 2025. She was comfortable as my Dad said.
I want to seek support for funeral costs, as my dad told me the total cost of $10,000. My Dad is one of the most hard working men I know. He works long hours as a limousine driver at our Airport and took more than a month off to be there for Auntie Connie during her last moments.
I want to thank everyone who share their love with us through this tough time, it means a lot. No one should have to experience this and I want to try my best as a daughter to support my Dad in any way. Thank you for your time <3
