Hi, my name is Casey and I am fundraising for my mom Connie and my step dad John (Johnny). They are both currently experiencing challenging medical issues, which means that Johnny has been unable to work. Being a self-employed barber in Barrie for 45 + years, if he isn't cutting hair, there is NO money coming in. My mom has faced many medical issues since 2020. This has prohibited her from working for many years. From serious vision problems beginning in 2020 (detached retina, laser surgeries) that included numerous trips to the Toronto hospital, to lung surgery (thoracotomy) in 2024. She became a heart patient in 2022 and has needed multiple heart ablations due to a-fib. She is currently waiting to be healthy enough for a pacemaker. In addition to this, she received a breast cancer diagnosis in late 2024. She JUST completed a lumpectomy and radiation, only to be hit with Influenza and Pneumonia causing her to be hospitalized this past month (February 2025). She was just released from the hospital a couple of days ago. Johnny is currently finishing up his antibiotics after being admitted to hospital as well with Pneumonia. He has been unable to work for 2+ weeks.

Their landlord informed them a couple of months ago they need to be out of their current home by March 1st. They were able to secure a new rental, however with all of this looming, it has been a very hard time financially to make this all work. They were able to switch the move out date to this upcoming weekend.

I live 19 hours away in Kenora, Ontario, and I feel very helpless during this extremely difficult time. I am just hoping to help ease the financial burden even in a small way for them if I can.
