On Saturday afternoon at 1:27 PM, March 19th, our brother Conner was involved in a firearm accident. He was airlifted to a hospital in Carmel where he was immediately evaluated for brain and spinal trauma. Shortly after, they informed us that Conner had no damage to his spinal column and no neurological problems, bringing us our first answered prayer. Since that Saturday, Conner spent 5 days in the neuro trauma ICU. On March 24th, Conner was moved to the trauma orthapedic wing.
Conner sustained a gunshot wound to his right cheek, which passed through a facial artery and fragmented before reaching his spine, which was completely unharmed. He has two vertebrae that are fractured, as the bullet is resting in the soft tissue of neck. The bullet traveled the path of least destruction. The only surgery he underwent, was an hour long jaw-wiring and once he returns home, he will be doing physical therapy because of the nerve trauma to his body.
From the fragmenting of the bullet before his spinal column, to his ICU room # being 2911, just like Jeremiah 29:11, we have seen God at work in the big and the small. Our brother is a miracle. He is our superman! When you speak to Conner, he will tell you how God has protected him and given him strength through this. He wants to use his story as a testimony to share the miracles of God. He has the faith like Abraham, courage like Daniel, strength like Sampson and wisdom like Moses. We now see what Satan meant for tragedy, the Lord meant for a miracle. He defeated Satan in the hands of Jesus, because in the time he needed it the most, God matched his strength and delivered him from the hand of death.
There has been an outpouring of love and prayers that have not gone unnoticed and we are very thankful for them. Thank you for your continued prayers! God has truly been protecting our sweet brother since the second the accident happened. His story is incredible and we look forward to when he gets to share it with you.
We have been asked about how what we need or what you can do for us, but our true priority is our brother. He is a sophomore football player at Taylor University alongside his sister, Ciara. He will not be able to work for awhile, and he also cannot eat food for the next month. We would be touched if you felt led to donate to Conner as he begins the road to recovery. There will be bills for physical therapy, gas to and from, medications, and his college bills that he can no longer work for. Every little bit helps him as he begins to piece together the start of this amazing journey given to him by the Lord.
God bless,
Austin, Cody, Shelby, Christian, Abbey & Ciara (and our baby bear Christopher)
