Stuntman Conley Needs Financial Support

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Taylor Sipes and I’m fundraising for Conley Wilson and his caretaker/sister LaDawn Archer. On July 31, 2022 Conley had a Diverticulitis attack causing septic shock. He had a perforated intestine with an abscess, resulting in an emergency colostomy. He was told he could have it reversed in 6 months. The stoma herniated to an abnormally large size. Conley went to have the hernia repaired and stoma reversed, but first had to be cleared by the cardiologist. The cardiologist sent Conley home with a heart monitoring vest and stated he had an ejection fraction of 12-17 with a possible blood clot close to the mitral valve. Prescribed home health and blood thinning shots to follow the next day. May 16, 2023 he had triple bypass surgery before he could be cleared for the hernia repair and stoma reversal. 5 months after heart surgery Conley was scheduled for the hernia repair and stoma reversal. Surgery was Nov. 10, 2023. He was told he would be in the hospital between 7-10 days. He was discharged on Wednesday the 15th, 5 days earlier than planned. He did good Thursday and Friday then the evening of the 18th he was having pain. Sunday the 19th he called a friend to come get him and take him to the ER in Gadsden, AL where his friend lived and he had his heart surgery. His sister had just arrived home in BA. He was admitted to ICU with septic shock, low BP and Tachycardia. LaDawn went back to Alabama at that time. It was believed Conley had an anastomatic leak, and Gadsden surgeon would NOT do surgery at that time and the original surgeon in Birmingham was out of town, by the time the doctors spoke Conley had been in Gadsden hospital nearly 8 days on antibiotics. Late on Nov. 27th Conley was sent back to Birmingham and Readmitted. On November 28th 2023 a CT scan showed the leak had become a hole and his blood work showed his organs were beginning to show signs of potential damage. He was taken to surgery. They cut about a 6-7 inch incision, flushed out his abdominal cavity. The surgeon had to reopen the original large intestine stoma, create an eliostomy in his small intestine and place a wound vac on his surgical opening. Conley was kept in a medically induced coma for close to 3 days before surgeons went back in and flushed out his abdominal cavity again. They closed together the surgical opening first layer of flesh to contain his intestines and allow healing from the inside out. With in the following 2-3 days his incision began dehiscence, and he was sent back to surgery to close the wound again. The Surgeon then placed 3 large retention sutures to keep the wound from busting open again. Conley was kept on the ventilator and heavily sedated for a couple of days to let the surgical site rest. Later, Conley was discharged to rehab where he tested positive for COVID, he was then sent after a week to a regular floor where he did not receive IV fluids and wasn’t eating, then early morning hours he was found in respiratory distress. No one was able to say how long he had been that way or how low his O2 was when he was found, he was sent back to ICU. At this point his kidneys almost shut down, there were blood clots in his bladder that would not allowing urine to pass through the catheter tube, nor pass through naturally. They used medication to dissolve the clots and drain his bladder before placing another catheter. He spent approximately 6 weeks of the 9 weeks in ICU. Conley also had 4 swallow studies done during his hospitalization and was aspirating fluid into his lungs because he was so weak from dehydration and COVID, he couldn’t sit up to drink thin liquid and they brought him thickened water with the consistency of pudding he did not touch, and never gave him IV fluids until he was back in ICU. Finally he was given two options. NPO (nothing by mouth) and rehab, or go home eat what he wants with hospice. The hospital made sure he understood Aspiration and pneumonia were sure to follow. Conley chose to go home with hospice feeling completely beat down. (He has since gained some Hope his situation would improve.) Conley lives in a travel trailer and would not be discharged home alone, so he would have to go to a nursing home to receive hospice. Conley’s sister packed Conley and his four little dogs up, moved him to Oklahoma to live with her, so that hospice would be available, and he could be closer to those who love him and have known him the longest. LaDawn has been in Alabama at the hospital nearly every day for the past 2 months. Unfortunately due to the extended time his on going hospital stay presented, with no clear return date available, she chose to stay with her brother, and lost her job. She would not leave her brother alone with no one to care for him or his 4 little chihuahuas, he calls his kids. Please help me make their lives a little easier. Anything helps and all is appreciated.
