Congo to Columbia: Help a refugee come to Columbia

Hi, I am Aaron. I have known Eric for three years through my work with a non-profit in Columbia, Missouri. He is a refugee from Congo who arrived via the US Refugee Resettlement Program. We are raising money to sponsor his nephew, Mugisha, to come to America and live with him. Mugisha's father (Eric's brother) was killed not long ago in Congo defending his family from militia. Mugisha wants to go to college and work in healthcare. He has excellent English and just needs the chance to come make a life here with his Uncle. We are raising money to sponsor him through Welcome Corps. All proceeds, as required by the program, will go directly to Mugisha upon his arrival to help him settle in his new home and begin his studies.

Aside from Eric and myself, my wife Claire Finkel, and dear friends Kayvon Ashrafazadeh and Nick Weston form the welcome corps sponsorship group to help Mugisha settle in upon his arrival.

July '24 Update! The Welcome Corps team has been approved! Now we wait for the team in Kenya to approve on that side, and then he will be eligible to arrive. This is a big step! We continue to raise funds toward full amount required by the program while we wait for the US office of refugee admissions in Kenya to begin the process on that side.
