Confined to Bed for 10 yrs Help End the Nightmare

            I'm organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my relative who lives in Ukraine near the city of Luhansk and desperately needs treatment and support. Here's a word-to-word translation of what he had to say:


            "My name is Stanislav and I'm 39 years old. 10 years ago, in the fall of 2010 I fell sick with meningitis. As the time went by meningitis developed into meningoencephalitis. As a result - clinical death followed by paralysis. As of today, I've been bedbound for ten years. Only my head and one wrist work, the rest of my body is numb.
            Being an invalid I receive a pension that is hardly enough to support my day-to-day functions, not to mention paying for any expensive quality treatment. My major problem is that I am in a constant need of being taken care of. My mom does that. She also works four days a week, 15 hours each day to make sure I have enough of everything. I'm always trying to help my mom by depriving myself of everything I can. Hoping to make some money I had started a youtube channel about a blind cat. Alas, I've been unsuccessful.  
            I really want to undergo a treatment program at a special rehabilitation center. They put people like me on their feet. I know they will be able to make me stand up, so I could work and help my mother. It's the obligation of all children - to help their parents when they are old. As I lie here in my bed all I can do to help is to give my mom a smile when she comes home from work."
            

            Stanislav and his mother have been hopeless for years. In fact, $25,000 we are looking to raise is a humongous amount of money for Ukraine; it by far exceeds their wildest dreams and is otherwise unattainable. Given the prohibitive cost of treatment, up until I mentioned gofundme to Stanislav he refused to believe he would ever be able to reclaim his own body.

            Money will be used to cover the cost of stay at the rehabilitation center near Moscow where Stanislav will be treated for two months as well as travel expenses to and from the rehab for him and his mother. Donations collected beyond the goal, if any, will go directly to Stanislav and his mother. Stanislav's mom makes an equivalent of only $160/month; anything extra would help as the two live in poverty even by Ukranian standards.
