Forestry NSW staff who have lost their homes

Donation protected
On New Years Eve the Andrew Condie's and Mark Goldspink's families lost their houses, sheds, man caves and all their belongings to the devastating fires that impacted the South Coast and Tablelands. Additionally, Andrew lost numerous belongings at the Batemans Bay depot, which has also burnt down.

Andrew Condie has been a driving force and exceptional leader in our response to the south coast fires since they started. He continues to selflessly help others and dedicate his time to the greater cause despite the threat to his own home and family.

The Goldspinks have been integral to the community of Tumbarumba for generations and Mark has dedicated his career to forest and fire stewardship in the region.

On Saturday 4th January, Errol McGovern's family home was lost to the Border fire that raced towards Eden at unexpected speed and ferocity.

The McGoverns fought to the last for the place that has held generations of memories. As with the Goldspinks and Condies, this is a family that has generations of history and stewardship of forests of their region.

Recently, I learnt that  the Border fire also claimed essentially everything from Josh Hydes property - except the house. All sheds, vehicles/machinery, rare mechanical parts and many other precious things. Josh was keeping his loss quiet, given he did not lose quite as much as the Condies, Goldspinks, and McGoverns - but it is still devastating. Selflessly, our 3 main beneficiaries have agreed to send some of the donations to help him out - we hope that you as donors will agree that this is a good cause. After all, a shed and his machines are akin to a man's home.

Similarly to Andrew Condie, Mark Goldsink and Errol McGovern, Josh is at the forefront of the Forestry Corporation firefighting effort and a critical and passionate member of our forest fire leadership team.

As such, these losses come as a terrible blow.

Funds collected here will be donated to the Condies, Goldspinks, McGoverns and Hydes to help them get back on their feet and rebuild their lives.

Donations such as gift cards will also be welcome and can be dropped to:
- Michelle Freeman (Batemans Bay Forestry Office)
- Kate McKinnon (Batemans Bay Forestry Office)
- BJ Brown (Tumbarumba)
- Dallas Goldspink (Tumut Forestry Office)

The donations will be withdrawn by the organiser and divided equally between the Condie, Goldspink and McGovern families - provided to them via EFT transfer by the organiser immediately upon withdrawal. Initially, this will be $10000 each. Funds up to $5000 will be provided to Josh Hyde to assist his re-build. Any donations in addition to the $35000 allocated will continue to accumulate and be divided amongst the beneficiaries (next withdrawal date and official fund closure to be advised).

The funds are provided to the beneficiaries without caveat to use as they require with their post-fire rebuild and recovery.
