Knockadoon Camp: Concretes Renovations
Knockadoon Camp is located in Co.Cork and caters to groups who wish to run programmes such as youth camps, music or language courses and retreats. The summer season (June-August) sees approximately 1000 young people from all over Ireland pass through the camp each year. We are currently undergoing essential renovation works in order to improve the facilities for all who use them, while trying to keep the fees at a minimum.
The current fundraiser is for the renovation of St. Malachy's, which is affectionately called 'the Concretes' by most. This bunkhouse is the least modern building on Knockadoon Camp and has suffered some extensive damage during the storms in the last few years.
While a total renovation of the bunkhouse would cost a significant amount of money, this year we will start to renovate six of the rooms in the house. This will involve putting new tiles on the floor, re-painting the walls, replacing the doors and building custom bunkbeds suitable for a youth camp, equipped with new mattresses.
