Concert Expenses for the Pitzen Brass Ensemble

Donation protected

The Pitzen Brass Ensemble originated at Northwestern University as a brass quintet in 1976, and soon transformed itself to become the larger Pitzen Brass Ensemble in 1978. That ensemble gave its last performance in 1989. In June 2022, members of the original ensemble joined forces with top brass players in the Boston area to present a concert known as the Pitzen Brass Ensemble Resurrection. More information may be found at https://pitzenbrass.com.

Our next performance is at Northwestern University on April 7, 2024. We are performing at our alma mater to honor our mentors from the Chicago Symphony who taught us at NU.

We are fundraising for this performance and future concerts! In addition to paying our own substantial travel and accommodation costs, the passionate musicians of the Pitzen Brass Ensemble performed without compensation in 2022. Your support will defray the costs of this concert and future performances of the Pitzen Brass Ensemble. Because we are not an NU Bienen School of Music ensemble, we must rent the hall and bear all logistical expenses of the performance, estimated at $12,500.00.

This concert will benefit members of the greater Chicago musical community (who may buy tickets) and NU students, who may attend at no cost.
