Conception fire recovery fund

Dear friends of Conception,

As some of you may know, we are a small music and arts  Burning Man camp based primarily in Seattle, but with members from all over the world.  Our mission is to provide fertile space for sparking innate creativity, whatever form or in whatever medium it may be.  My name is Garrett Jackson, and as one of the camp-s co-founders and steering committee members, I'm reaching out to friends, fellow burners, and anyone supportive of this kind of grass-roots arts collective.

Our mission of late has hit a big snag – our rented truck that we used to carry our stuff to and from Black Rock City caught fire in the wee hours of Sunday night, as we had packed up everything and headed to bed.  The glow of the fire
woke our camp and although emergency services and rangers arrived in mere minutes, nearly all of the contents of our truck were lost, as well as the box of the truck. What was left was mostly unsalvageable.

The insurance for the vehicle does not cover the contents.  We lost some critical pieces of camp infrastructure (our dome and cover, generators, power infrastructure, etc), and one of camp mates personal belongings.  At this point, we are not even 100% certain that the damage to the vehicle is covered.

So we are asking for help.   We would greatly appreciate ANY amount you could donate to help our phoenix rise from the ashes.   We estimate that we need about $14,000  to replace all the lost contents and pay for fees associated with the rental truck.   There will be administrative feels, recovery fees, towing fees, lost usage fees, and deductibles.

We will replace our shade structure (a geodesic dome, our power infrastructure, which included generators and lots of power cables; our solar panel, lights, regulator, and appurtenances for our clock tower; our shower structure; various lights and decorations, and a bunch of personal gear including some very expensive electronic tools.

With an eye towards next year, we hope to be re-built by late next spring.  The funds we collect go directly to camp's bank account and we will be able to cut checks for folks who lost personal gear, and pay directly for replacement of camp infrastructure.

Those of you who donate more that $100 – we have gift for you.  A T-shirt specially designed for this recovery campaign.

So friends, family, fans...please help as you can.  We love you all.

peace, love, and dust,
