My sister Aisling and myself are walking 250km of the Camino Portugues, walking from Porto to Santiago to raise funds for Conall's Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic Memorial Trust Fund.
This Trust Fund, Charity No 20149895, funds the running of a PH Clinic in Our Lady's Hosp for Sick Children, Crumlin. The clinic under the control of Cardiac Unit in Our Lady's Hosp operates on a quarterly basis, when a PH Consultant & Specialist Nurse travel from Gt Ormond St Children's Hosp to Our Lady's Hosp Crumlin, to see children suffering or suspected of suffering from PH. Being able to see a PH Consultant in Dublin, saves these children and their families the stress & trauma of travelling to the Gt Ormond St Centre of Excellence to see the PH Consultant.
We have been fundraising since 2009 after my late son Conall made that same trip to Gt Ormond St in March 2009. Sadly Conall unexpectedly passed away in Sept 2009.
Taking a lot of effort & perseverance by all involved, the clinic saw its first patients in June 2015. To date, €42000 has been raised to fund the clinic which has an annual outlay €8000 approx. All fundraising has been done by our family & friends who have generously contributed their time & monies over the last few years. The family of little Mia, a patient of the clinic, have also contributed hugely to the fund.
All monies raised go directly to funding the clinic.
