Hemos creado esta campaña, para pedirles ayuda por nuestra princesa guerrera Macarena Alvarado Roca. Ella nació con una malformación congénita cardíaca severa que se llama Anomalía de Ebstein tipo C, que consiste en que la válvula tricúspide derecha del corazón es ineficiente y no bombea sangre suficiente a los pulmones. Además, Macarena nació con un fallo renal crónico nivel 4; esto quiere decir que sus riñones funcionan entre un 20-30% vs un riñón normal.

En sus 2 añitos de vida ha vivido 9 meses en UCI y en el camino ha sufrido varias afectaciones y procedimientos médicos:

Todas estas cirugías han sido paliativas, es decir que no corrigen su malformación solo le dan más tiempo para crecer y poder eventualmente llegar a las cirugías correctivas de corazón abierto que permitirán a Macarena una solución permanente.

Luego de mucho tiempo dimos con el hospital de niños en Pittsburgh UPMC en donde se llevará a cabo la cirugía apenas tengamos el 100% del valor de la cirugía. Este hospital tiene mucha experiencia en la cirugía de Reparación del cono y reconstrucción de la válvula tricúspide, que en Ecuador no se realiza.

 

El seguro médico de Macarena ya llegó a su límite de cobertura. Por esta razón pedimos su ayuda para recaudar fondos y continuar cubriendo los gastos médicos de Macarena para que pueda seguir creciendo fuerte y feliz como es ella.

We have created this campaign, to ask your help for our Warrior Princess Macarena Alvarado Roca. She was born with a severe congenital heart disease called Ebstein’s Anomaly Type C, which means that the right tricuspid valve of the heart that is insufficient and doesn’t pump enough blood to the lungs. Associated with this anomaly, Macarena was also born with level 4 kidney failure; this means that her kidneys work between 20-30% vs. a normal kidney.

 

During her first 2 years of life, she has been 9 months in the ICU and has gone through several procedures and new diagnose along the way:

 

• 4 heart catheterizations (2 Stents)

• 2 open heart surgeries

• 2 strokes, product of the lack of oxygen to the brain which adds a diagnosis of cerebral palsy affecting her mobility, vision, language and breathing

• 1 tracheostomy surgery through which she used to breath

• 1 G tube surgery through which she feeds

 

All these surgeries have been palliative, meaning that it doesn’t correct the anomaly, just gives her more time to grow and eventually be able to go through the corrective open-heart surgeries that will allow Macarena a more permanent solution. After a long time of searching we reached the UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh, where she is having the surgery as soon as we gather the entire amount that it costs.

This hospital can perform the Cone Repair Surgery for the tricuspid valve reconstruction, that in Ecuador can not be performed.

 

Her medical insurance reach the lifetime coverage. That is why we ask for your kind help to raise funds to continue with Macarena's medical treatment so that she can live.
