The main goals of the project are: Connecting the school to the world; improving the overall quality of education; Facilitating access to information from diversified, rich and original sources; Providing students and teachers with modern effective tools for communication and capacity building.
The AENR/LR was created in 2020, with a vision articulated around three pillars: Creating the conditions for an education founded on excellence; Reinvesting in the community within and outside the school (‘giving back’); Promoting the values of peace and development. By supporting the promotion of quality education and reinvestment in the community, the Association seeks to contribute to laying the foundations for peace, development and stability in the Rutovu community, Burundi, Africa and the world.

Lycée Saint Thomas d'Aquin de Rutovu (LSTAR) has its origin in 1949 when the Ecole d’Application Pédagogique (EAP) was created by Belgian missionaries (the Père Blancs community). The school was renamed Ecole Normale de Rutovu in 1968 when it was taken over by Canadian Catholic Brothers (Frères de l’Instruction Chrétienne, FIC). In 1998, it became a public school under Catholic convention and was renamed Lycée Saint Thomas d'Aquin de Rutovu(LSTAR) under the management by the Congregation of the Bene-Yozefu Brothers of Burundi.
