Completing My Dad's Dream
My dad's only dream since I was a little girl was to build a house for his family. A house that's paid for, a place that would fit his current family of 7, a place he could be proud of. He worked so hard for so long and was able to slowly start making his dream a reality. Walls went up, plumbing went in, and electricity started flowing. He was so proud of what he was creating until health issues began limiting what he could and couldn't do.
Progress slowed significantly last year when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer where he then had major surgery which he never fully recovered from. Lately he's been experiencing excruciating abdominal pain and on Monday it was confirmed the cancer has spread to his liver. He has a pet scan and an MRI scheduled for next week to determine if it has spread anywhere else and the lab is currently running more tests on his biopsy to determine what kind of mutation it is, but unfortunately there's no cure for liver cancer- all they can do is maintain it. To say we are devastated would be an understatement and now I have to watch my dad's life dream slip away as the final inspection is right around the corner and there's still work to be done in order for it to pass.
My hope in creating this is to raise enough to buy the rest of the drywall and insulation needed to pass inspection so that my parents have one less worry. The final inspection has already been rescheduled as many times as it can be- this is it. My dad hasn't been able to work for obvious reasons and my mom JUST got a job at the schools before he was diagnosed with lung cancer. She has taken the last year off to take care of my dad and to be cautious not to bring Covid home to him. We already have a team ready to install, we just need supplies asap to make all of this happen. Any help is appreciated more than you know, even if it's simply clicking "share".
Love on your loved ones, guys. Life as you know it can literally change within a second.
