Hello I am Charles Obore from Uganda. In 2019 we launched a community initiative (Communities Beyond Imagination) to cut down school dropout among girls from 70% in primary schools in Kumi district using the power of football. We started with 7 girls but now have 242 kids participating in the project with 57 of them graduating to high school on sports scholarship.
This has been an amazing testimony on what the power of football can do to change the lives of these rural girls. We have been national football champions for girls U-14 twice and had 5 of girls representing Uganda in International competitions.
This is real determination and commitment from our kids and the community but yet again giving us a big challenge of expanding our reach to help many girls out, improve on the quality of our service and plan for our self sustainability.
We are thus constructing a multi-purpose facility which will act as a boarding facility for girls, an ECDC for young children and community library.
We already started the construction of 4 classroom block and a 7 stance toilet facility through the support of some generous individuals and now mobilizing resources to fit the windows, connect electricity, complete the toilet facility and do other inside fittings.
This will cost 10,000USD we are looking forward to raising 6,000 through this campaign and 4,000 through our local fundraising activities.
We are deeply counting on your support to make our girls have a safe space and have it functional by next year.
When completed this facility will help us reach out to 500 girls directly through the our skilling program, football program and community library project.
Thank you for your generous support.
