Complete My Senior Collection (PsyRen)

Hello,

My name is Laura Lambert. I am a senior studying fashion design at Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I design ethical fashions with a bohemian aesthetic. I started as a nomadic artist selling upcylced looks to other fans while following the remaing members of the Dead. I went to City College of San Francisco for two years where I was awarded a full scholarship to Academy of Art University to get my BFA. The time has come to spread my wings and my senior collection will be shown in May at Academy of Art's Graduate fashion show that you are all invited too!

The collection is titled "The Psycedelic Rennaisance" PsyRen for short ;)

Our society requires sustainable solutions today, but because of low infrastructure sustainable materials can be quite costly, yet it’s vital that sustainability be explored at an academic level in order to create ethical practices from the start. As a student I have limited resources and I am expect to cover the costs of materials for the final construction and sampling process. It is my hope to use mostly if not all hemp in my Academy of Art senior fashion show. Despite it’s low cost to produce, do to lack of infrastructure and sources, hemp remains high in price for both wholesaler and consumer. I am trying to raise funds for my material costs. Every little bit helps.

Below is the expenses I figure for production of my senior thesis. These estimates and materials may change so they are rounded to the greatest 100th. All extra material post project will be donated to the school for use by the future students.

Sustainable FABRIC $1168.60 ( $1401.10 including travel expenses + $99 misc. ) = $1500

Hemp Knit: 100% Hemp Jersey - Weight: 4.5 oz. Width: 57

$18.08 x 10 = $180.80

Hemp Organic Cotton Blend: 80% Organic Cotton, 20%

Hemp Suede 55% hemp 45% organic cotton-

$15.42 x 15= $231.30

Travel: 700 Miles, 28g/m = 25 g x 4.50 =$112.5 in gas.

Lodging: $120 for one night.

Rhinestone Fabric = $20/yd x 30 WS = $600

Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes 8oz/ $5 x 6 colors = $30

Laundry Mat + other dyeing material = $70 + $30 = $100.00
