This fundraiser seeks to complete Phase II of St. Mary's School Development Project: Minimal Construction. Phase II aims to build St. Mary's Nursery and Primary School. The school will be constructed in Nyamigoye, a small rural village in the Kanungu District of Uganda. Currently, the children of Nyamigoye must travel long distances outside of their village by foot to go to a GOOD school. But with your help, we can help these children to attend a school much closer to their homes. St. Mary's Nursery and Primary School will offer a holistic and integral educational program. For this phase of Minimal construction, the school will consist of 10 classrooms, 2 restrooms and 2 dorms , 2 laundries and 1 Administration block for Kindergarten section (as guided by the government). The Diocese of Kabale has approved this phase.
Overall, St. Mary's School Development Project has 4 Phases: Land Acquisition, Minimal Construction, Full Construction, and Operation & Maintenance. On August 2025, we completed Phase I: Land Acquisition, thanks to the generosity of our donors. This phase allowed us to successfully purchase all 17 acres of land needed for St. Mary's Nursery and Primary School. Since then, we have been focused on raising funds for Phase II: Minimal Construction and its prerequisite: Ground Leveling. For phase II to to begin, we have to first do Ground Leveling.
Here is a cost breakdown of Phase Ground Leveling:
a) $8,820 for leveling of steep land & preparing levels for buildings (machine hire, gas, labor for the operators) This does not include leveling of the play field. And it this may increase depending on any unforeseen challenges during leveling.
b) $4,530 for Master Plan & Artistic Impression.
c) $2,840 for Architectural Drawings with Measurements.
d) $2,540 for Structural Drawings & Bills of Quantities.
e) $9,810 for Construction Permits (may rise if additional buildings are added).
Total Estimated Cost = $28,540
Additionally, another $3,050 is needed to level the play field before getting the licensing for the school to operate. However, if funds allow, the play field should be leveled together now with other parcels of land to save costs. This would bring the actual cost to $31,590.
When this is achieved, construction of phase II infrastructure can begin. And once construction is done , school recruitment and learning of children can begin awaiting phase III.
Note: Architectural designs may change depending on the leveling of the land. According to an Ugandan government engineer, parts of the land are steep, which predicts a change of design in the location of the buildings. After leveling, an architectural engineer will come for permitted drawings for the permit application.
On behalf of the children in Nyamigoye, we deeply appreciate your invaluable support by donating on this page. Thank you and God bless!
