My younger brother was arrested in early 2022 for a crime he did not commit as a result of “unfair”/racist policing. We were able to reduce what would have been a felony to a misdemeanor and avoid prison time. Despite the positive outcome of the case, the cost of hiring a lawyer and going to court sank my family financially. The $7000 meant to go towards an already outstanding tuition balance went towards his legal fees, which was an urgent and pressing concern, and cost in the ballpark of $10000.
I now stand to lose a year of school and am unable to complete my thesis because of the funds I owe. This sudden emergency has made it so that entering my final year may not be possible. I have until the middle of August to submit the payment and register for the classes.
I am a mature student who, due to financial insecurity, had to pause my education after high school in order to support my family. The ability to complete this degree would offer an opportunity to significantly improve our financial situation.
I want to thank anyone who donates from the bottom of my heart for taking interest in this and assisting, even a share on social media is greatly appreciated.
