Hello my name is Tom Taylor. I have been proud to be a single dad and an employer for many years. During the pandemic it was difficult. I was attempting to start a business, Slamhomes.com, which was disastrously underfunded with just the little funds I had. We built some homes and started running out of money during the pandemic.

Last year I was diagnosed with cancer and had it excised. I was fortunate it wasn’t aggressive. And then I had the knee replacement on the same side as the melanoma surgery. I’m healing but the knee still hurts.

I now need to accept failure and concede bankruptcy. I just can’t continue building. I don’t have the funds.

And then Monday my truck was stolen and I feel the walls caving in as I struggle to re-invent myself as something other than the contractor that I have been for 35 years. At 64 with no assets I am terrified.

So I need to file final taxes on the business, find a new car to replace my old truck, declare bankruptcy and set myself up either in a new business or find a job. It’s a lot and I feel waves of panic as I work to not collapse.
