Competing At Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships

Hi Everyone, I’m Dave Brockway, a 51 year old powerlifter.

I have been formally invited to represent England as a M2 U83kg lifter to the Powerlifting Commonwealth Games in Sun City, South Africa in October 4th to 13th October 2024. I have also been invited as a reserve to represent Team GB in the Masters World also in South Africa. I'm totally blown away. I won the British Masters & the All Englands this year. Tbh it all feels incredibly surreal like I’m in a dream. My original goal was to maybe one day compete at national standard even if I placed last. If you asked me a few years ago do you think you might compete internationally? I would have probably laughed.

The past years of training are a combination of dedication, determination, obsession & several adversities along the way. This has definitely helped me through inspiring & improving the quality of my clients as a coach & nutritionist.

Although this is one of the highest honours to be bestowed on an athlete. Of course I said ‘yes’. Powerlifting is a self funded sport & has already cost me thousands of pounds this year with travel costs, entry fees and equipment costs just to get to this point. Never actually thinking I might win 2 major national comps. Whilst tallying up the cost of entry fees, uniform fees and anti-doping fees (Very important keeping the sport clean), Vaccines, Transfers, Flights, Hotels & travel insurance the total came in at excess of £3000. This is before the cost of food & other miscellaneous expenses.

I would really appreciate it if you could contribute or sponsor to help me fulfil my dream. I understand that not everyone can afford or is in a position to donate. It would be really helpful if you could share this with anyone who might be interested.

Over the years I have always tried to help as many people as possible. I would be eternally grateful to receive any contribution now.
