Hello!! In October, we moved to Denver to try something new while being in a place beneficial for our training. Within a week of moving, it was announced that Ninja would be one of the five sports in the modern pentathlon. The modern pentathlon is an Olympic sport comprising five events: fencing, swimming, ninja, cross country, and shooting. We decided it would be fun to try this, so we scheduled a meeting with a Pentathlon coach, Miss Elaine Cheris, at the Cheyenne Fencing Society and Modern Pentathlon Center of Denver. We went into this meeting expecting to gain more information about the sport and training but instead ended up suiting up to fence.
After 10 minutes of fencing, Miss Elaine told us to take off our masks. She asked if we really had never fenced before–she stated we were naturals and it would be a waste of talent not to pursue fencing and the Modern Pentathlon. We were not expecting this at all, as we have never fenced before let alone ever thought about fencing.
Elaine is a three-time Olympian, having competed in national and international fencing competitions for two decades. She is one of the most prolific fencers and instructors in the US having instructed many elite international competitors. After her competitive career, Elaine set up Cheyenne Fencing Society & Modern Pentathlon Center.
Since this initial encounter with fencing, we have been at the gym everyday training for the Modern Pentathlon. We train for nearly six hours a day, six days a week. Not only have we seen great progress so far, but Miss Elaine has been incredibly impressed and wants us to compete and represent the USA in an upcoming international pentathlon competition in Guatemala December 3rd-11th to gain international experience; as she believes we can make a push towards the 2028 Olympic Games in LA.
We feel incredibly grateful for this opportunity, but we are in need of financial assistance to help us get there and compete. We would use the funds raised from this GoFundMe for flights, passports, and equipment for all five events. We would be so appreciative of any help and support!
