Compassion for Rose: A Life of Giving

Donation protected
Ismenia “Rose” David

Rose lived a life marked by resilience and compassion, facing immense challenges as a victim of domestic violence. This led to several surgeries and a long-lasting emotional impact. Yet, for the past ten years, she poured her heart into rescuing cats and dogs, dedicating her time and resources to ensure their well-being. By 2023, her home was a sanctuary for her beloved pets, with Rose often prioritizing their care above her own needs.

Despite her struggles with health issues and job-related pay cuts, Rose made the brave decision to sell her home and downsize to ease her financial burdens. She embarked on the journey of trying to establish a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization for animals, driven by her deep love for those who had no one else. Even while grappling with her own challenges, she welcomed two more abandoned and abused dogs into her life, showcasing her incredible capacity for empathy and devotion.
Tragically, late in 2023, while walking her dogs, they darted after a squirrel, causing her to fall. She initially thought she had merely bruised her hip, but after seeking medical attention, she learned that she had fractured it. As her condition worsened, Rose had to take a leave of absence from work to focus on healing. In search of support, she moved to North Carolina to stay with a lifelong family friend, hoping to alleviate some of her financial strain. However, in early 2024, she learned that her health challenges were far more serious than anyone had anticipated. After consulting a new doctor, Rose received the heartbreaking diagnosis of stage 4 small cell lung cancer, which had spread to her bones. The pain was exacerbated by a large mass on her hip, which had caused the fracture and limited her mobility.

For over a year, Rose has been unable to work due to health issues, leading to significant financial hardship. Despite her determination to fight through this tough time, she is losing her battle. Currently, Rose has been placed in hospice care, which has placed an additional strain on her family as they navigate mounting medical expenses and make difficult funeral arrangements.

Your generous donation will directly support the payment of Rose's unpaid bills and cover her funeral costs, ensuring that she receives the dignity she deserves in her final days. Any funds that remain will be allocated to her estate, which is dedicated to continuing her cherished dream of providing assistance and support to victims of domestic violence. Together, we can honor Rose's legacy and help others in need..
