Compassion for Mila in Her Time of Loss

My name is Irina, and I am a close friend of Mila and her late husband Nicholas, who passed away on April 8, 2026. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Mila during one of the most difficult times of her life, and I am reaching out to ask for your support and compassion.

In Memory of Nicholas Labenskyj.

It is with deep sorrow that we share the passing of Nicholas Labenskyj, who left us on April 8th following a heart attack. He was a beloved husband, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, and his loss has left an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew him. Nicholas would have turned 80 on April 23rd of this year.

Nicholas was born in Germany after World War II and lived a remarkable life that spanned continents — Germany, Brazil, Canada, Ukraine, and the United States. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Monmouth University and built a distinguished career working for major telecommunications companies, including Apple Inc, where he worked for many years, as well as running his own businesses. A man of extraordinary intellect and curiosity, Nicholas was fluent in six languages and had a lifelong passion for new and innovative technology. He was also an author — his book, Back to the CCCP: Perestroika, stands as a testament to his sharp mind and his commitment to sharing important stories with the world.

He contributed regularly to political publications, offering thoughtful and informed perspectives on the issues he cared about deeply.
Over the past year, Nicholas faced serious health challenges, enduring multiple hospitalizations and surgeries. During this difficult time, his devoted wife, Mila, stood by his side and became the sole source of support for their household. The medical bills accumulated, and the financial burden grew heavy.

Nicholas is survived by his wife, Mila, his brother, his sister, his two daughters, and all who were fortunate enough to call him uncle and grandfather.

If you are able to contribute — no matter how small — your generosity will help Mila cover funeral expenses and the medical bills left behind. In this time of grief, any act of kindness means the world. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
