Every contribution, big or small (As little as $5), will make a difference. If you’re unable to give, I completely understand. I just ask to please consider sharing this fundraiser so we can give Jack the send-off he deserves. GoFundMe does not require to reach a goal to receive funds. GoFundMe allows $0 (0%) tip for donations. Whether we reach the goal or not, the money will go directly to Jack's arrangement and related expenses. Thank you for your support.
Honoring Jack's Life
Jack was a mental health peer specialist who dedicated several years of his life to helping others heal through compassion, humor, and lived experience. Jack wasn’t just a dear friend, he was my “unofficial adoptive father." When we worked together, we were affectionately known as Carl and Russell from the Pixar movie Up (he really did look like Carl and I followed him around like Russell). It became a running joke that Jack had unofficially adopted me and in many ways, he truly did.
Jack passed away unexpectedly just days after being admitted to the hospital for severe leg pain. While he had been in and out of the hospital for the past few years, none of us imagined we would lose him so soon. He had no active family involved in his life, so I’ve taken on the responsibility of honoring his memory and managing all of his final arrangements. Jack did not pass alone as myself and close friends were present until he took his final breath.
One of Jack’s final wishes was to be cremated and placed in a Godzilla-themed urn. We’re doing everything we can to fulfill that dream. We’d also love to arrange a small viewing or memorial plaque so friends and coworkers can say goodbye and have a space to remember him. Jack’s greatest fear was being forgotten, but he was one of a kind. Like a blue butterfly, while he spread his wings his loved ones were blessed to see the true rarity of his whole being.
About the Host – Jenni (aka Jack’s “Russell”)
Hi, I’m Jenni! Some of you may know me personally or know me as Jenesaisqua (or Jene) from Twitch. I’ve been on medical leave since late April and was soon diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect (cor triatriatum sinister) and suspected neurological conditions. I’m not medically cleared to work or drive—my cardiologist submitted DMV Form 326 for Loss of Consciousness Disorders—and I’m undergoing monthly testing with specialists including cardiology, neurology, pulmonary, and dermatology. I was in the process of moving and navigating my own medical care when Jack passed. In other words, working is not a feasible option right now so it's been financially overwhelming to support myself and support Jack's passing.
I want to make it clear: There was never a question in my heart that I would step up and support him no matter how much I struggle. In fact, I was working as a social worker for seniors in disadvantaged communities before going on medical leave. A career decision that was influenced by my love for Jack.
️Transparency - How Your Donation Helps:
- Cremation and mortuary
- All legal fees
- A possible small viewing or memorial plaque
- A custom Godzilla urn in Jack’s honor
- Any remaining funds will help cover basic necessities while I continue handling his affairs and caring for my health. Some close friends and I will be handling all of his remaining belongings.
Note: As of 07/09/2025, Jack’s hospital required a 30-day hold to confirm next-of-kin due to lack of contactable family. Afterwards, I will be the next person they will contact. While this delays his cremation, it gives us a small window of time to raise funds and give him the farewell he deserves.
Please Read this Carefully:
If you’d like to support my medical/personal costs so I can focus on Jack's passing, my Paypal is listed below to ensure funds are separated accordingly.
GoFundMe: Donations for Jack's Memorial
Paypal (Optional): Again, optional. I am managing both Jack and myself. The donations to Paypal would to ensure I can stay afloat while managing both needs for Jack and myself. However, if the proceeds exceed there it will go back to Jack's Memorial.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us honor a life that meant so much to so many.
With love,
Jenni ️
