Compassion for Connie

Connie has spent her life caring about people as a medical social worker. She has always been healthy, active and full of life. Connie's uplifting personality and best social work practices have enabled her to help hundreds of people over the years. Now it's time to "Show Connie Compassion".
Connie woke up one day this year to find a lump on her neck. "It seemed to come out of no where" were her exact words to me. After having ultrasounds, cat scans, pet scans and two biopsy's she was diagnosed with Malignant Neoplasm of the tonsil. Surgery was scheduled and 20 lymph nodes were removed along with a portion of her tongue. Connie was in Intensive Care for three days and was off work for a month. During this month of recovery from surgery Connie ran out of sick days and was without pay. She has insurance but has a deductible into the thousands and has to pay 20% of all medical care.
Connie returned to work (even through the first weeks of radiation and chemotherapy) until her body would no longer cooperate with her working. Connie just finished 6 weeks of radiation and chemo and is still too weak to return to work. She has walked this journey, thus far, with very few people knowing her challenge. She is now receiving phone calls requesting payment for numerous medical bills. On top of this, making her house payments and daily living costs has become another heavy burden.
Hearing the word "cancer" was something this vibrant person never anticipated. The physical and psychological changes are overwhelming. Talking her into sharing her story wasn't easy but it is necessary. Please help me "Show Connie Compassion" through your kind words of support and through donations.
