Compassion for Becky

Donation protected
Our dear friend Dr. Rebecca MacKenzie and her family are in need of financial aid due to overwhelming medical costs.  In late 2019, 'Becky' was diagnosed with breast cancer.  She completed the recommended medical protocol and was headed into remission when her husband Kevin was let go from his job in August of 2020.  This consequently led to the loss of insurance coverage and the snowball turned into a avalanche.  In the past week, her cancer has returned to her liver with possible lymph node invasion. She is currently at home on palliative care with necessary medications to keep her comfortable.

It is said people come into your life for a reason, a season, or a lifetime.  While Becky no longer lives near us,  her legacy lives on in the people she touched through her hands and heart.

Becky is an amazing mother to Gabe age 18, Auggie, 16 and twins Esther and Sarah, age 13. Her husband Kevin is a talented graphic artist designer.  When the pandemic hit the country, Gabe who worked for Starbucks, quit his job rather than possibly infecting his mother and family with the virus.

Becky was Dr. Brad's  Clinical Chiropractic Assistant when he first opened Wards Corner Chiropractic in 1988.  Becky was attending Old Dominion, working at Fellini's on the side.  She was going to become a Physical Therapist but Dr. Brad changed her mind and our dear Becky moved to Atlanta to attend Life Chiropractic College and became Dr. Rebecca MacKenzie in 1999!  It's an incredible honor to touch someone's life in such a way, that they then pay it forward.

She returned to Virginia to practice under the tutelage of Dr Kell Fleshhood in South Hill Virginia.  Dr. Kell will tell you that  Dr. Becky saved his practice and stayed with him until 2013 when Kevin accepted a job in Austin Texas.  His patients still ask about her every time he sees them.

Becky is a member of the Granby High School Class of 1987. Old Dominion University Class of 1995 and Life University class of 1999.

We started this Go Fund me Page because Becky's life wasn't just in Norfolk, or South Hill or even her home now in Texas.   We know she made lifelong friends on her journey and is in desperate need of your help now.

If you have a story to share about Becky please let us know, her family would love to hear from any and all.

The family is in need of monetary donations at this time, Kevin is unable to work while he cares for Becky and the kids.  Any amount is appreciated.  Thank you and God Bless.

Her daughter, Sarah, created this amazing drawing to remind Becky to be a Fighter Girl!!
