Compassion for a Homeless Man and His Loyal Dog
Donation protected
While out driving in his car last Sunday afternoon, my son happened to drive by an older gentleman and a dog together on the side of 135th St. next to 69 HWY. It was extremely hot outside, and the man was lying down, and it looked like something was wrong with him. So, my son pulled over and asked him if he was okay. The man said, "No, can you please drive me to the hospital?"
My son took him to the hospital and told him he would take care of his dog for him. My son gave him his information and brought the dog to my house. Two days went by, and we didn't hear back from this man. He couldn't remember the man's name and had no way of getting ahold of him. So we waited. In the meantime, I gave the dog a bath. He was covered in ticks and pretty dirty. So, I took him to a vet to have them removed and some Frontline applied. They checked the dog for a chip, and sure enough, he was chipped! So, I finally had the man's name and called the hospital and asked to be connected to his room, and they did. When I spoke with him, he told me he had lost my son's information and thought he would never see his dog again. He was so relieved and happy the dog was safe and sound, and I had contacted him. This man had a hernia and is in surgery right now as I type this.
I spoke with him on the phone last night for about an hour. He is a 60-year-old man who is very articulate and kind. I prayed with him on the phone, and I know that this man just needs a reason to have some hope for a new path in his life.
He shared with me that he is a Rod Buster by trade and also a handyman on the side. Unfortunately, he is currently homeless and jobless, though, and trying to get some things in his life back on track. My son spent time with him before his surgery this morning, and he shared a lot about his life with my son.
I am sharing this story because I just want to try to help this man out and his precious dog so he has some hope and some help when he is discharged from the hospital.
I created this GoFundMe so if any of my friends may find it in your heart to contribute a little to help this man out, I would be so grateful. Even if it's just a dollar, I know this will have an impact on him and help plant hope in his heart. ❤️
