Hi, I'm Firecrow Silvernight, I'm raising money to start a company that can save us all from en-shit-ification! Compare Basic is a "Back to Basics" system to build high-quality user experience products.
It was conceived to heal the wounds I experienced in the software industry and business world, and has become so much more. I've been building the Caneka runtime since 2024, working day-jobs between raises, and generally scheming to improve the world around me.

Where Does The Money Go
Compare Basic has on average $140 of monthly service expenses including servers, payment gateways, and a co-working space/mailbox. I also pay myself an hourly wage similar to what I would make as a dishwasher/line-cook working in a restaurant.
Every $5 helps a lot, and every $20 is an hour I can live responsibly, while bringing this project to the world.
Is Compare Basic Open or Closed Source
Both! The Caneka runtime is open source under a 3-Clause BSD License. Compare Basic will sell closed source products made from Caneka.
The best analogy I can think of for this business model would be a restaurant that sells food cooked from ingredients that are available to everyone. They are paid because of the experience and preparation they provide even though they have no exclusive claim to the culinary process.
Similarly, Compare Basic intends to make money by solving real-world problems as a for-profit company that sells productivity software while we share the tools we are developing.

An employment model that can scale, bring software and professionals back into the economy, and provide a collaborative team environment, where people can work together inside and outside the company.
How the Crowdfunding Works
Every $5 USD contribution can be converted into stock under the bylaws of the company with a few restrictions:
- Each contributor can convert between 1 and 450 shares from this round ($5 to $2,250 contribution).
- Contributors must be legally able to own stock in a US based Company.
- This crowdfunding campaign balance is below $8,000 USD.
- Contributor cannot be a professional investor.*
*"Professional Investor" is defined in this crowdfunding as any person or entity who receives more than 70% of their income from the sale of stock or securities or the return on loans or venture capital investment. This also applies to an individual who is employed by a company who meets the conditions of the previous sentence.
The goal of these fundraisers is to get a group of crowdfunding advisors for the work we will do. I have doubts that professionals who live on passive income will have good advice.
