Silverton's Mosaic Fountain

"Help Us Fix the Fountain"

The Leo Martin Rumely III Memorial Fountain (Silverton's Mosaic Fountain) is located near the staircase to the creek at the Coolidge McClaine Park, home to numerous spring and summer festivities, in Silverton, Oregon.

This historic fountain was first created in the 1930's as a wading pool. More recently, it became a memorial for Leo Martin Rumely III. Then a mosaic art project was born to refurbish the fountain... however, the fountain first required major structural renovation and adaptations by area businesses.

Mosaic artists and hundreds of volunteers including children, young adults, parents, teachers, and many other stakeholders have already contributed much enthusiasm, talents, and funds to revitalize this 80-year-old fountain.

Today, following three years and many hundreds of hours, the Silverton Mosaic Society is making a request for funds to complete this project... it is time for the final push to complete this awesome mosaic fountain!

We are creating this GoFundMe with the hope that we reach a world-wide audience. Our small community has come together to create individual and group mosaics which tell our stories and express our hearts. The project is an inspiration for community building through art.

Whether you are able to offer a gift of $5 or $5000, or more, together we can complete the Mosaic Fountain this year and realize the dreams of so many friends... "I Helped Fix the Fountain."

The remaining work to be done includes grouting, detailing, cleaning and installing 100+ bench mosaics... all requiring many hours of trained volunteers and contracted artists.

Quoting Silverton's resident mosaic artist Christine Carlisle: "... People throughout the community are getting to know each other and there's a great joy and a sense of community and camaraderie. It's so awesome. It's an honor to be part of it.”

Upon completion of this Project with its water spray across glorious mosaic work, the Silverton Mosaic Society together with the entire Silverton Area Community and beyond, can enjoy the Fountain year after year... a source of community pride. Visitors near and far will always be Welcome!

The Silverton Mosaic Society intends to collaborate with the City of Silverton to help them maintain the Rumely Memorial Fountain... made possible with the help of so many.

Thank You All!

...and as stated by "fountain buddy" Laurie Boyce in OurTown... “This project will enhance the overall beauty of the fountain with mosaic art... Once completed, the fountain will become a lovely and lively place for residents to gather in the hottest days of summer.”
