Hi, I'm Chris Olfers. I'm 29 and live in downtown Austin Texas.
A few months ago my wife Arielle and I began practicing "active gratitude" (acknowledging the great things that fill our life) and it's changed us forever. I've been constantly reminded how incredibly fortunate I am to have the means to rent a place to live.
We have the opportunity to raise $25,000 and buy an RV that will be rented to a formerly-homeless neighbor, an Austinite, somone like Danny. Over the next month as we enter the season of giving, Arielle and I are giving the first $1k - we hope it's an encouragement to our family and friends to join us!
Watch the video to learn more about Community First Village - residents pay rent, have jobs, learn skills and most importantly regain family and community. They recently opened the Topfer Health Resource center to address the mental & physical needs of the community. Take a look at their Facebook page - this place has a ripple effect worldwide. I volunteered during the construction process, and go every Christmas eve to serve breakfast and celebrate with the community (ping me if you want to come!).
Dig deep. This level of giving may feel uncomfortable -It certainly does to me! It's more than I've given to other causes in the past, but if just 2 dozen more people feel like I do, we WILL change someone's life forever.
Watch the videos, then let's change lives. This is just the first step.
