Community Woodshop
Donation protected
Community Woodshop in Los Angeles is a safe and friendly space for local craftspeople to work on woodworking projects. A family business, CWLA was established in 2012 and is run by brothers Scott and Robert Stevens. If you are able to work independently and safely you may join as a member and have access to the space and the machines. If you’re not quite there yet, you may take classes or private lessons until you feel comfortable on the machines.
Popular Woodworking Classes:
- Cutting Boards
- Frames
- Decorative Boxes
- Cabinetry
- Joinery
- Furniture Making
Like many other businesses, COVID-19 has forced CWLA to close its doors. While stay-at-home orders are in effect, we cannot open the shop. This means all our revenue streams (memberships, classes, and storage fees) have come to a screeching halt. We depend on those revenue streams to keep the lights on.
Not only is this affecting our livelihoods and our employees'
livelihoods, it's also affecting CWLA members who depend on the
shop as their professional workshop/studio.
We hope to reopen sooner rather than later, but until that happens, we need your help. If we do not cover our expenses, we will go out of business and North East LA will lose an important resource. Your donation will be used to cover monthly expenses including rent, utilities, taxes, payroll, and insurance.

If you enjoy living in a creative community, and you are financially secure please donate.
If you do your part, we promise to do ours. We’re taking a proactive approach. In addition to GoFundMe, we are working to raise money by selling products online. We've just launched an online store featuring things recently made at the shop:
CWLA Store:
- Planter Boxes
- Cutting Boards
- Tables
New items will be posted weekly so check back often for the best
selection! As soon as possible, we'll be adding member projects too!

For the last year or so we've been learning to shoot video and are in the process of learning to edit. Another great way to help is subscribing to our YouTube channel.
We need 10,000 subscribers in order to monetize our YouTube
channel!
There, you’ll find instructional videos on safe practices and project-based videos for all levels from DIY to Furniture Making. As soon as possible, we plan to feature our members in our videos. There's not much there yet, but we have many videos in the works, so stay tuned!
Please support your friends and neighbors at
Community Woodshop!
We believe in community. Together we will overcome. Together we will become stronger and more resilient. All donations, no matter big or small, are greatly appreciated.
Thank you so much for all your gracious support!
Stay safe and be well!
