Community Support Needed: Help Replace Stolen Photo Gear

About
My name is John Bello, and I am a photographer based in Vancouver. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of carving out a niche in capturing the unique stories of the LGBTQ+ community through weddings, portraits, and creative content. Representation is incredibly meaningful to me, and I’m passionate about highlighting diversity in my work. It provides those who often feel underrepresented with a sense of belonging and empowers them to confidently claim their space in the world.
I’m also committed to creating a safe, welcoming space where people can truly be themselves and feel vulnerable — because that’s when the most beautiful, authentic images are made.
Story
After a shoot, my car was broken into during a stop on my way home, and several pieces of essential lighting equipment were stolen — including my continuous light, triggers, cords, and other tools I rely on to light scenes during sessions. Thankfully, my cameras were with me, so they weren’t affected.
However, the stolen gear was a key part of my setup, and the cost of replacing everything — on top of the car repairs — has created unexpected financial strain.
Photography is my sole source of income, and losing my gear has a direct impact on my ability to work and support myself. Asking for help is difficult for me, but I’m turning to my community and this GoFundMe in hopes of rebuilding. I want to return to doing what I love at the highest level and continue capturing the important stories that matter, especially in times like these.
Any contribution, no matter the size, would mean the world to me. If a donation isn’t within your capacity at the moment, sharing this is just as meaningful.
Thank you for your support!
