Help Chelsea Recover and Cover Medical and Monthly Bills:
Meet my best friend, Chelsea. She's a middle school teacher in Metairie, LA. In January, she became EXTREMELY ill, and she's been unable to work since January 5th. What started as a persistent fever and fainting spells quickly escalated into a series of health issues that doctors have struggled to diagnose. Unfortunately, while she's navigating these issues with her doctors, the fainting spells have made it not only unsafe for her to return to work, but also for her to be alone with her 7-year-old son, Elliot. The fear of passing out and not being able to care for him has been emotionally overwhelming for her, and it’s forced her to make difficult choices about their daily lives. She hasn't been able to spend time with him on her own since the middle of January.
Since January 5th, she’s seen 17 different doctors, including a trip to the ER, and undergone countless tests—MRIs, CT scans, EKGs, and so much lab work that she's had to take a week to heal between lab visits.
The worst part of all of this is that because she's not able to work, and she's waiting for Short-Term Disability to be approved (with no guarantee that it will be any time soon), her monthly bills are starting to overwhelm her family, and there's a new round of medical bills every week. Recent findings show that she will not be able to safely return to work until at least the beginning of March, and she will likely have restrictions once she does return. Even with an optimistic return to work in March, she will have already been out of work for two months. While she waits for the insurance claim to go through the approval process and for the hospital to determine if she qualifies for any assistance there, we want to ask the community to help us support Chelsea, her husband, and her son Elliot.
Any support—whether it’s a donation or simply sharing her story—would mean the world to Chelsea and her family right now. Your kindness will help cover medical bills, get the care she needs, and help go towards food and necessities while she focuses on finding answers and spends time healing. Thank you for being here and for considering helping during this difficult time. Even if you are unable to donate, those of us helping Chelsea through this difficult time would really appreciate it if you could share her story with others in your community. Every share helps!
