Community Support for the Flores Family After Tragic Loss

Hi, my name is Melina, and I’ve created this page to help a wonderful family in urgent need of financial support. I’ve had the privilege of connecting with the Flores family through my work in community-based research, and with their permission, I’m sharing their story in hopes of rallying the community for mutual aid and support:

Miguel Flores lived in Los Angeles with his wife, Diana, and their 14-year-old son. For decades, Miguel worked as a proud day laborer. Despite the challenges brought on by the Woolsey Fire in 2018 and the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Miguel remained resilient and continued working as a day laborer until his health began to decline. In the fall of 2024, Miguel faced a severe health crisis that left him unable to work and in urgent need of a heart transplant. Thanks to the incredible generosity of the community, we raised roughly $2,700 to help the Flores family with rent and groceries as they faced the hardship of losing their main source of income. They were deeply grateful for this support during such a difficult time.

It is with great sadness that I share Miguel passed away last week due to health complications. His unexpected loss has left Diana and their son facing overwhelming grief and financial uncertainty.

Today, I am asking our community to come together once more to support the Flores family during this incredibly difficult time. Your contributions will allow Diana and her son to focus on mourning and healing the loss of a husband and father without the immediate burden of financial stress. The money raised will provide support for funeral costs, rent assistance, and basic necessities such as groceries.

I am in direct contact with Diana, and all funds raised will once again go directly to her and her son.
