Hello friends and neighbors,
Many of you know that I lost my job in December. This was unexpected, and came at the worst possible time: with increased winter heating bills, the holidays, and Saski's sudden illness and death only adding stress to the situation.
Since losing my job, I have been applying for roles in my career field, networking, volunteering, and using my sewing skills as a side hustle to earn some cash while I apply for jobs. I've also set up meetings with PA CareerLink to gain skills and network as I prepare to re-enter the job market. Unfortunately, despite all this, I still don't have any job prospects.
I'd like to ask our beloved community to help out for a few months while we try to get back on our feet. With unemployment benefits, we are short about $1600 a month, and based on my experience looking for work and the current job market, I anticipate that it will take 3-6 months to find a new role that can support our family.
If you feel inclined to support, here are some ways to help out:
1. Send me job recommendations in mid-level or senior communications and organizing roles! I am hoping to *not* work in the campaign cycle right now, as my long covid symptoms make it hard for me to do those types of long days.
2. Contribute to our GoFundMe, and please share with friends who may be interested. Our goal is $9,600, and any funds left over after I find a new job will be refunded by me as per GoFundMe's refund policy.
3. Support my small sewing business! I'm on Instagram under @mountainlaurelsewingco, and I'm available for alterations, lessons, and custom projects. (You can always text or call me for quotes too!)
Lastly, it's hard to ask for help in a time when everyone seems to need a little help. Please only give out of your own blessings and abundance.
With so much gratitude for all of you,
Suzy
