The Williamson County Sheriff's Office has staffed school crossing areas for many years. Rita Puckett has been serving as a crossing guard for over 20 years, most recently at Grassland Middle School and Pearre Creek Elementary School.

On Tuesday, December 10th, 2024, Mrs. Puckett was driving to her post when she was involved in a vehicle crash after being struck by another vehicle. Subsequently, Mrs. Puckett received significant injuries which prevent her from returning to work for the foreseeable future. Now without a vehicle or the ability to return to her post, Mrs. Puckett is in need of support from the community.

Our goal is to provide any amount of relief in this time of need to alleviate any financial strain caused by this unexpected event. Mrs. Puckett, over the years, has gone above and beyond to care for the children at every school she has been assigned to. So much so, she has even gone to work in the past during times of illness instead of caring for herself. Mrs. Puckett has only asked for support in prayer, but we feel compelled to share this story to show our appreciation and support in a time of need.
