Community Support for Ric Gaudet's Healing

Ric Gaudet has been an integral part of the Northern New Mexico community and a pioneer in ecological farming practices since 1996. He is a master farmer with a HUGE heart and has worked tirelessly to bring healthy food to so many of us throughout the years.

If you've visited the Santa Fe Farmers' Market, you have likely been touched by the beauty (and deliciousness!) of Ric's vegetables and starts, as well as his warm, quiet nature. He has a quick sense of humor and a generous way of sharing the labor of his work. I'm not sure there are better cucumbers around, nor a more committed farmer! Ric is a father to two beautiful children and a husband to Tania Marines, an amazing grower and artist also.

Recently, Ric suffered a rib and lung injury while working in his greenhouse, leading to significant medical complications and an extended hospital stay. Ric was transferred to Albuquerque so specialists could treat his lung issue better. What initially seemed like a short hospital stay turned into a much more complicated medical challenge.

First and foremost, we are praying that he receives the help he needs to heal and return home to his family, where true healing can begin. However, this is just the start of an uphill battle as Ric and his wife, Tania, figure out what can realistically be achieved on the farm this season.

Anyone who knows Ric understands that he would never ask for help, as he has always put others first. His lifelong commitment to farming has been a labor of love, not just for himself, but for the entire community. Ric has dedicated countless hours to nurturing the land and providing fresh, healthy food for all of us. As he faces this challenging recovery, I hope we can come together as a community to support him as he has supported us all of these years.
