On Sunday evening June 28, 2026, a vehicle went into the water at the Taft Street Boat Ramp in Pawtucket Rhode Island with a mother, her 19 year old daughter and the 19 year old daughter's 2 year old child.
Recovery efforts remain ongoing, and this family is now facing a heartbreaking loss that words cannot fully explain.
After speaking with the husband and father on scene, he shared that he has also been facing serious health challenges in recent months and is currently undergoing dialysis. Now, on top of his own health struggles, he is left facing the loss of his wife, his daughter, and his granddaughter.
I do not personally know this family. I only met them for a short time during one of the most unimaginable moments of their lives. But what I do know is that no family is ever prepared to face the loss of three loved ones at once. No husband, child, parent, sibling, or relative should have to carry that grief while also worrying about funeral costs and the unexpected expenses that come with a tragedy like this.
There are sons and siblings left behind without a mother and sister. A husband left without his wife. A family now trying to survive a loss that no one should ever have to endure.
First responders will continue recovery efforts on Monday morning.

La noche del domingo 28 de junio de 2026, un vehículo cayó al agua en la rampa para botes de Taft Street, en Pawtucket, Rhode Island. En el vehículo viajaban una madre, su hija de 19 años y la hija de esta, una niña de apenas 2 años.
Después de hablar con el esposo y padre en el lugar, él compartió que también ha estado enfrentando problemas de salud en los últimos meses y que actualmente está recibiendo diálisis. Ahora, además de sus propios problemas de salud, queda enfrentando la pérdida de su esposa, su hija y su nieta.
Yo no conozco personalmente a esta familia. Solo tuve la oportunidad de estar con ellos por un corto momento, durante uno de los momentos más inimaginables de sus vidas.
Pero lo que sí sé es que ninguna familia está preparada para enfrentar la pérdida de tres seres queridos al mismo tiempo. Ningún esposo, hijo, padre, hermano o familiar debería tener que cargar con ese dolor y, al mismo tiempo, preocuparse por los gastos funerarios y otros gastos inesperados que llegan después de una tragedia como esta.
Quedan hijos y hermanos sin una madre y hermana. Un esposo sin su esposa. Una familia tratando de sobrevivir una pérdida que nadie debería tener que vivir.
