Community support for Matt Rose

Hello, my name is Katelyn and I am starting this page in hopes of helping to provide support to my brother Matthew while he is going through an incredibly tough season (after many many other tough seasons!).

As many of you already know, our family has been through the gauntlet in the past year with our dad battling cancer, Matthew learning to live and survive as a young person with Type 1 diabetes, and most recently an unfortunate accident which resulted in damage to his motorcycle, and also a broken foot- which for him means a complete halt on his entire income for his life as he is a Les Schwab brake tech (legs and feet required).

This brake in his foot now requires surgery (which he is having today) and a potential 3-4 month recovery time.

For those of you who know my brother, you already know he would hate my guts for even asking for help. He is stubbornly independent, manages all of life’s shitstorms mostly on his own, and in most cases is beyond generous with his own skills and talents to help others. He hates asking for things from others unless he truly has to, and typically tries to barter or some other version of what can I also do for you.

We are asking for help to support him in this time of hardship and long road of recovery ahead. The less he worries about getting back to work, the better he can actually heal properly and give his body the true rest it actually needs. A mental break for a kid who has worked since he was 17 years old and keeps trying to truck forward through anything.

Finances make the world go around, but while he also cannot drive himself with this injury, rides or invites to events would be pretty excellent also! He is already elbows deep in bills, medical is already a worry with diabetic needs becoming less and less covered by insurance programs over the years, and now this added burden.
