I am posting to ask the great Delmarva community to come together as we always do to help my sister in law (Kristi) in her time of need. On Friday, October 31st Kristi was driving home from work, following her sister in the car ahead when a driver under the influence (of a substance still unknown to us at this time) veered into the oncoming lane of traffic, first side-swiping her sister in the car ahead before ultimately colliding with Kristi head on at approximately 55 mph. Kristi was trapped in her vehicle for approximately 45 minutes before being rescued. She was immediately flown via helicopter to the trauma unit at the Christiana hospital in Newark, Delaware with very serious injuries, to include a broken leg, an essentially shattered hip, dislocated knee, fractured foot, internal bleeding, brain bleeding, any countless cuts and bruises. Kristi has already undergone several surgeries and blood transfusions and still has a long road ahead. She remains in the ICU as of writing. Requesting community help to cover the cost of medical expenses beyond insurance coverage, Travel expenses for her family that lives two hours from the hospital, in home care for her when she is allowed to go home and general living expenses for the foreseeable future that she will not be capable of working.
