Jocelin is a trans woman from Guatemala who is seeking stability and asylum in the U.S. After experiencing abuse in a detention center every day is a psychological struggle for her. She is living in a supportive place with her three kids but does not have the ability to work. We are hoping to raise a couple months' cushion to keep them housed until she is able to access other resources.
Luckily, Jocelin now has a group of committed community members who want to help her succeed, despite the tough odds in Texas, and it looks like we have found her a supportive lawyer. Jocelin has some short and medium-term needs while things fall into place.
She has had a tooth infection and needs a low-cost extraction for which we're hoping to raise around $300. In addition, we hope to raise two-months' rent ($1200/month) as a cushion before more substantial potential funding from other organizations becomes available. Any other funds will go towards her and her family's basic needs.
Any support helps. Thank you so much for sharing.
