Hello friends and community members. I am reaching out for my beloved friend, Dawne.
Recently, Dawne is finding her herself being faced with homelessness, and having to vacate her home within 30 days.
For the last four years, she has lived in a safe Asheville townhome that allowed her to manage life with Meniere’s disease on a fixed disability income. She was able to maintain the property, create community and find comfort in the safety of knowing she had a home, even as her Meniers’s disease progressed. Unfortunately, Dawne was recently informed that the property is now being sold, forcing her to find a new home, having been given a 30 day notice this past week.
As we all know, finding an affordable, safe home in Asheville on a fixed income is nearly impossible, and public housing waitlists are overwhelmed. I am hoping that as a community, we can raise funds to help cover the costs of moving, security deposits, and temporary storage and shelter, in the hopes that Dawne can keep her independence.
Whether you can donate, share this link, or send her a lead on a private rental, your help means the world to her. Dawne has been like family to us and has always been there to lend a helping hand…..please help support her to stay safe and independent.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
