We are a group of educators who have worked alongside a remarkable first-grade teacher, Dawn Mandalas, who has significantly impacted many elementary students in Dover, Delaware. Dawn is a mother of three children. Two of her children attend college, and one is in high school. Dawn was diagnosed with triple-negative metastatic breast cancer just over a year ago. Unfortunately, her treatment has extended beyond what is covered by medical leave, leaving her reliant on social security and limited grants from cancer organizations, which only help cover utility expenses.
