It is with a heavy heart that I share this fundraiser for my dear friend, Chris Mejia, and his family as they navigate the unimaginable loss of his son, CJ. CJ passed away far too young, in his early 30s, after a difficult illness. No parent should ever have to endure this kind of pain.

Many of you know Chris as an incredible man — a man of faith, a devoted father, and someone who treats friends like family. Some of you may have crossed paths with Chris through the music and entertainment industry. Chris and I have worked together on and off for many years, including our time with Phase 2 in Lynchburg and the Blue Ridge Rock Festival.

You may remember him greeting you with a smile, a joke, a dance, or laughter that made your day better. He was often the first face you saw and the one who made you feel welcome. Now, more than ever, Chris needs those smiles, that laughter, and that love returned to him.

Over the past months, Chris put life and work on hold at times to be there for his son during his illness. Between time away from work, mounting medical expenses, and now funeral costs, the financial burden has become overwhelming. This is a season when families are meant to be together, creating memories and leaning on one another — and I believe this is a moment for our community to step up for someone who has given so much of himself to others.

I write this not only as a friend, but as someone who understands grief and the weight it carries. If Chris has ever made you smile, helped you through a moment, or simply crossed your path in a meaningful way, I ask that you consider helping in any way you can.
