A recent house fire caused serious damage to this family’s home. While the house was not completely destroyed and everyone made it out safely, one side of the home—including the bedroom of their 12-year-old son on the spectrum—was a total loss.

His bedroom was his safe place. It was where he felt calm, comfortable, and at ease. It held the things that mattered most to him and helped him feel secure day to day. In the fire, everything in his room was lost—his clothes, toys, treasured Pokémon cards, personal belongings, and even the Christmas gifts he had just received.

Their son is on the autism spectrum, and for him, routine and familiar surroundings are especially important. Losing his room and everything in it has been incredibly hard. These were not just “things,” but sources of comfort, joy, and stability. The sudden loss has been overwhelming for him and for his family as they work to help him feel safe and settled again.

This GoFundMe was created to support the family as they begin rebuilding, with a special focus on helping their son recreate a space that feels familiar and comforting. The funds raised will help replace essential items, rebuild his bedroom, and restore some of the belongings that brought him happiness and comfort.
